
Liberty Tops Omaha, Falls to Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second day in a row, Liberty split a pair of decisions in a tri meet hosted by Air Force, Saturday at Cadet Natatorium.
Liberty (2-2) defeated Omaha 174-68 today, while falling to Air Force 126-116. The Falcons beat Omaha by a 185-57 score. For the weekend, Air Force went 4-0, Liberty 2-2 and the Mavericks posted an 0-4 mark.
Liberty Event Winners
The Lady Flames host Tulane next Friday and Saturday at Liberty Natatorium. It will be the team's cancer awareness meet.

- The head-to-head dual-meet matchup between Liberty and Air Force came down to the final event, the 400 freestyle relay. The Falcons took first in 3:29.65, while the Lady Flames (3:33.67) placed third.
- Liberty won each of the first four swimming events, before Air Force went on to win four out of the final seven swimming races and both diving competitions.
- For the second straight day, Liberty received two wins each from freshman Aly Bozzuto (50 free, 100 free) and junior Eden Troxell (500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle). Liberty sophomore Kamryn Cannings won the 200 freestyle, while redshirt sophomore Malia Francis claimed the 200 backstroke.
- The Lady Flames won the meet-opening 400 medley relay 3:48.33, defeating second-place Air Force by 6.22 seconds.
- Liberty went 1-2-3 in the 200 backstroke (Malia Francis, Layne Jones, Sadie Stricklin), while taking the top two spots in the 1000 freestyle (Eden Troxell, Isabelle Gomez).
- Air Force holds a 2-1 all-time record against each Liberty in dual-meet action, with the Lady Flames defeating the Falcons at the 2016 Intermountain Shootout. Liberty is 2-0 all-time versus Omaha.
- Troxell has won the 1000 freestyle each of the last six dual meets in which she has contested the event, dating back to the start of last season.
- Bozzuto began her collegiate career with wins in all four individual events and both relays in which she has competed so far.
