LYNCHBURG, VA. - The Liberty men's soccer team will host the Chicago Cougars and the HCU Huskies in their first-ever Ohio Valley Conference matches this weekend. The Flames will welcome the Cougars to Osborne Stadium on Thursday and square off with the Huskies on Sunday.Â

- Liberty will open its first season of OVCÂ play when it hosts Chicago State and Houston Christian this weekend.
- Liberty enters the week with a 5-2 record for the first time since starting the 2021 Spring season 6-0-1. The Flames had their final non-conference match of the regular season at VMI canceled on Saturday due to inclement weather.
- Liberty has outscored its opponents, 16-12, so far in 2023. The Flames lead the Ohio Valley Conference and are 13th nationally in scoring offense, averaging 2.29 goals per game.
- Luke Eberle leads the OVC in goals and points. The senior collected the first multi-goal game of his career in Liberty's 4-1 victory over USC Upstate on Sept. 14 at Osborne Stadium.
- Michael Huss is second on the Flames and second in the OVC with four goals and nine points. Gabe Findley has three goals and two assists for eight points.
- Freshman Leo Conneh leads the Flames and is tied for the OVC lead with four assists. Findley, freshman defender Carlos Trott and midfielder Ocho Fasteen have two apiece.
- Freshman Lucas Kelly scored his first career goal at No. 14 Wake Forest last weekend. The defender became the sixth Flame to score a goal this season.
- This season, Blake Franzen and Owen Moore have split time in the Liberty goal. The two have combined to post a 1.71 goals-against average and a 0.692 save percentage.
- Liberty enters the weekend to 4-0 at home this season. The Flames have averaged 3.25 goals per game at home, outscoring their opponents, 13-5.
- Liberty will meet Chicago State and HCU for the first time in program history this weekend as the Flames open OVC play for the first time. Thursday evening's Chicago State-Liberty contest will be part of the first-ever night of OVC men's soccer action.
