
Elise Graf Named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty defender Elise Graf was recognized as the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. In just her second career start, Graf led a Lady Flames defense that held Marshall without a shot in a 2-0 victory on Sunday.
Graf becomes the fifth different Liberty player to receive the recognition and receives the seventh award for the program this season, both league highs. Liberty has received the defensive player of the week honor over the past three weeks. Graf's award follows Rebekah Earnest and Saydie Holland.
On Sunday, Liberty secured its CUSA leading fourth shutout of the season, led by its stifling defense. Liberty held Marshall without a shot in the match, marking the first time since Sept. 19, 1992 in a 7-0 win over Washington & Jefferson the Lady Flames accomplished the feat.
A sophomore from Havre de Grace, Md., Graf has appeared in every game this season. The defender made her first career start and played a full 90 minutes in a 3-1 win over West Virginia on Sept. 3.
Liberty hosts Appalachian State on Thursday night at Osborne Stadium. The team will honor its seniors before the game. The match is set to kick off at 6 p.m. The Lady Flames head to Lexington, Va. to take on VMI on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at Patchin Field.
