Dykema Invited to Train With U.S. Women’s National Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Bethany Dykema of the Liberty field hockey team has been invited to train with the U.S. Women's National Team this week.
Dykema earned the invite from David Passmore, U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach, after competing in the 2023 Senior Nexus Championship, held July 11-16 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center.
Dykema will train with the U.S. Women's National Team for further evaluation and consideration this week (Monday through Friday).
Dykema and her Liberty teammates Reagan Underwood and Gianna Miller competed at the Senior Nexus Championship (NXC) during the middle of the month. The Senior NXC is held annually and featured 144 elite high school, collegiate and post-college athletes.
Dykema will be a fifth-year senior for Liberty this fall. She was a 2022 NFHCA All-America second team honoree and also earned NFHCA All-South Region first team, All-BIG EAST first team, BIG EAST All-Tournament team and VaSID All-State first team recognition last season.
A back from Newport News, Va., Dykema ended last season with a team-high and career-best 12 assists, tied for the third most in a season in school history. Dykema ended the season ranked 18th in the nation in assists per game (0.60) while tallying eight goals and 20 points in 20 games (all starts).
