
Eastern Kentucky Edges Liberty 8-7

First baseman Charles Ludwig’s third home run of the game in the 7th inning pushed the Eastern Kentucky Colonels past the Liberty Flames 8-7, Friday evening at Earle Combs Stadium in the opener of their ASUN three-game series.
Liberty plated three runs in the third inning to take a 6-1 advantage, only to see Eastern Kentucky tie the contest with four runs in the fifth inning to tie the contest.
The Flames went back in front in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run by Todd Hudson, before Ludwig struck again with a runner aboard for what proved to be the final score of 8-7.
Second baseman Gray Betts had two hits and two RBI and scored a run to lead the Flames. Hudson hit his second home run of the season.
Liberty drops to 12-13 in the ASUN Conference and 22-27 overall. Eastern Kentucky moves to a 14-11 in the ASUN and 27-24 overall. The Colonels have won eight straight games.
