
Lady Flames Erase 6-Run Deficit in 12-9 Win Over Ospreys

Liberty erased deficits of 7-1 and 9-6, rallying to defeat North Florida 12-9 and sweep a doubleheader on Friday at UNF Softball Complex.
The Lady Flames (24-13, 9-2 ASUN) earned the series victory with their sixth straight win overall, while the Ospreys fell to 19-17, 2-9 in ASUN play with their seventh consecutive loss.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty recorded a season-high 17 hits in the game, compared to six for the Ospreys. The Lady Flames committed one error. Liberty left six runners on base compared to two stranded for UNF.
- Karlie Keeney (16-6) picked up her second win of the day, pitching 3 1/3 innings of relief while allowing one run on two hits, striking out three. Starter Paige Bachman allowed five unearned runs on one hit in 2/3 of an inning, walking three. Reliever Emily Estroff allowed three runs on three hits in three innings of work.
- Halle Arends (0-2) drew the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in 1/3 of an inning of relief work. Starter Izzy Kelly yielded five runs on nine hits in 2 2/3 innings pitched, walking one and fanning one before giving way to Ashley Connor, Arends and Skyler Stockie.
- Caroline Hudson batted 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, four RBI and three runs scored, while KK Madrey wen 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Rachel Craine batted 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and one run scored, while Savannah Woodard, Sierra Kersten and Mary Claire Wilson had two hits apiece and Wilson homered.
- For UNF, Shannon Glover was the team’s top hitter, going 2-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and two runs scored.
Turning Point
- After Liberty narrowed the deficit to 7-6, Shannon Glover greeted new relief pitcher Karlie Keeney with a two-run homer to push UNF’s lead to 9-6 in the bottom of the fourth. However, the Ospreys managed just one base runner the rest of the way.
- Meanwhile, Liberty tied the game on a bases-clearing double from Hudson in the fifth and went ahead on homers by Craine (leadoff) and Wilson (two-run) in the sixth.
Beyond the Box Score
- Liberty leads the all-time series against UNF 11-2, winning each of the last seven meetings. The Lady Flames are 11-0 all-time at UNF Softball Complex, including 3-0 during their run to the 2022 ASUN Softball Championship title.
- The Lady Flames are 19-2 this season when scoring first in a game and 14-1 when scoring in the first inning.
- Liberty has won each of its last 26 ASUN regular-season away games. The Lady Flames’ last ASUN road loss was April 28, 2019 at North Alabama.
- Liberty overcame a six-run deficit in a win for the second time this season, as the Lady Flames trailed 6-0 before scoring 14 unanswered runs in a 14-6 win over Radford on March 5.
- Hudson became the sixth player in program history with 30 or more career home runs and is the fifth Lady Flame with back-to-back 10-homer seasons to her credit.
- Prior to today, the last time a Lady Flame had three extra-base hits in a game was April 9, 2022 against Kennesaw State, when Hudson had a double and two homers.
- Liberty’s 17 hits today are its most in a single game since recording 19 hits against Villanova on Feb. 27, 2021.
- Liberty’s 12-9 win marks the most combined runs scored in a conference win for the Lady Flames since beating Charleston Southern 15-6 on April 22, 2005.
- Liberty has now won 15 out of its last 16 ASUN regular-season games and is a perfect 14-0 in ASUN regular-season games played in the state of Florida.
