
Liberty Wins 11-7 Slugfest Over APSU

Liberty overcame a 5-4 deficit, bouncing back for an 11-7 victory over Austin Peay in game one of a doubleheader, Saturday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
The Lady Flames (33-17, 15-5 ASUN) extend their winning streak to four games, securing the series victory. Meanwhile, APSU (24-19, 11-9) suffers its fifth straight setback.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit APSU 15-13 for the game, with the Governors committing one error and turning a double play. The Lady Flames left seven runners on base, while APSU stranded six.
- Paige Bachman (8-8) earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out two in 2 1/3 innings in relief of Emily Estroff. Karlie Keeney picker up her second save of the season, pitching two innings of one-hit relief.
- APSU starter Samantha Miener (3-7) drew the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits, walking one and fanning one in 3 1/3 innings. Emberly Nichols allowed five runs in two innings pitched.
- KK Madrey went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, one steal and two runs scored. Mary Claire Wilson batted 2-for-4 with a double, homer, four RBI and two runs scored. Rachel Roupe went 2-for-3 with a triple, one run and one RBI, while Caroline Hudson, Megan Fortner and Sierra Kersten all had two hits each.
- APSU’s Lexie Osowski-Anderson went 3-for-4 with a homer, five RBI and two runs scored. Former Lady Flame Megan Hodum batted 2-for-4 with thee runs scored, while Gabi Abiag hit her second homer of the season. Macee Roberts and Mea Clark recorded two hits apiece.
Turning Point
- Liberty scored four runs in the first inning. However, APSU went ahead with a three-run third. Mary Claire Wilson tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double in the fourth, while Hudson put Liberty ahead with an RBI single.
- A three-run homer by Wilson and RBI triple form Roupe gave Liberty a 10-5 lead in the fifth. Austin Peay pulled to within 10-7 on a two-out, two-run single by Osowski-Anderson in the top of the sixth, but got no closer.

- Liberty’s 11 runs were its most runs scored in a game since a 12-9 win at North Florida on April 7. The Lady Flames’ 15 hits today are their most since recording 17 hits at UNF, April 7.

- Liberty scored four runs in the first inning of yesterday’s win over Austin Peay before striking for four tallies in the first frame today. - Keeney is now in sole possession of sixth place in program history with six career saves.
