
Liberty Strikes for 6 Runs in the 7th to Take Game 2 From Kennesaw State 9-1

Holding a 3-1 lead, the Liberty Flames plated six runs in the seventh inning to pull away from the Kennesaw State Owls, romping to a 9-1 victory in game two of an ASUN doubleheader, Saturday evening at Stillwell Stadium.
All nine Flames in the Liberty batting order reached base at least once and seven of the nine scored in the contest. The Flames took advantage of four Kennesaw State errors, scoring seven unearned runs.
Left fielder Kane Kepley led all hitters with three hits and was one of four Flames with two or more hits in the game. He had two RBI and scored a run.
Three Hillier belted a two-run home run in the third inning, the Liberty catcher’s third of the season.
Flames right-hander Mikey Tepper pitched five scoreless innings and finished the game, allowing one run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings.
With the win, Liberty splits the doubleheader and takes the ASUN series two games to one. Liberty moves to 8-7 in the ASUN and 17-18 overall. Kennesaw State falls to 7-8 in conference play and 16-18 overall.

Turning Point
Liberty took advantage of two errors and two bases on balls in the seventh inning to take a commanding lead. Right fielder Camden Troyer walked followed by a base hit by Hillier to lead off the inning. Second baseman Gray Betts’ bunt was thrown wide of first base and down the right field line, allowing Troyer to plate the first run of the uprising. Guy followed with a sacrifice fly to score Hillier and the Flames were up 5-1.
Designated hitter Victor Castillo dropped a single into left field to bring in Betts and two batters later, Kepley ripped a two-out, two-run double into the right field corner to extend the Liberty advantage to 8-1. Horton capped the six-run burst with an RBI single for a 9-1 lead.
