
Liberty Falls to No. 14 Washington 8-0 in 6 Innings

The 14th-ranked Washington Huskies pulled away late for an 8-0, six-inning victory over Liberty, Friday at Bill Barber Park.
The Huskies have gone 3-0 at the Mark Campbell Collegiate Invitational and finish up their time in Irvine tomorrow night with a marquee matchup against No. 1 Oklahoma. The Lady Flames fall to 0-3 after a pair of losses today.

- Washington outhit Liberty 11-1, while the Lady Flames committed an error. The Huskies left six runners on base, while Liberty stranded two.
- Ruby Meylan (2-0) earned the shutout, striking out 10 and walking one while allowing just one hit.
- Karlie Keeney (0-2) drew the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits, walking three and striking out four in five innings.

Turning Point
- Washington held a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning before breaking the game wide open with a four-run frame. The key hit came when it was still 3-0 with two outs and the bases loaded, as Lynch hit a bases-clearing double. Holtorf followed with an RBI single.
Beyond the Box Score
- Washington leads the all-time series against Liberty, 4-0. The last meeting before today came Feb. 14, 2020, when then No. 1 Washington rallied from a 6-5 deficit to beat Liberty 10-6 at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational.
- Liberty remains in search of its first-ever win over a Pac-12 team in softball. The Lady Flames face Stanford this Sunday before playing at UCLA next Tuesday.
- Raigan Barrett faced her former team tonight, as she redshirted for Washington during the 2021 season before transferring to Liberty. She is one of three Lady Flames who will face their former team this season, joining Emily Estroff (FGCU) and Savannah Woodard (Alabama).
- Each of Liberty’s last six games have come against Top 25 opponents. That is the second longest stretch of nationally-ranked opponents in program history, as Liberty faced seven Top 25 teams in a row in 2020.
