Boone Repeats as CUSA Freshman of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – For the second week in a row, Liberty guard Asia Boone has been voted the Conference USA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

The native of San Diego, Calif., scored in double digits during both of the Lady Flames' close losses this past week (73-70 overtime loss to Towson on Dec. 4 and 80-67 loss at No. 3 NC State on Sunday). She averaged 15.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.5 spg while knocking down a team-high six three-pointers.

Boone hit three triples as part of a 14-point, four-rebound, three-assist outing versus Towson, playing a career-high 40 minutes during the overtime tilt.

Sunday at NC State, Boone was the Lady Flames' leading scorer, matching her career highs for points (17) and three-pointers made (three).

Boone and the Lady Flames (3-7) are back at home Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a matchup with longtime in-state rival Radford (2-8). Liberty will then travel to Richmond (8-2) for a Saturday 2 p.m. tilt.
