
Richardson Announces 6 Liberty Softball Signees

Liberty Softball Head Coach Dot Richardson has announced the addition of six student-athletes to the Lady Flames' softball program for the 2024-25 academic year. Danner Allen, Alexia Carrasquillo, Felicity Fonseca, Aubrey Fulcher, Hallie Meeks and Maci Strickland have all signed commitments to attend Liberty and play softball at Liberty beginning in the Fall of 2024.
These six student-athletes join a team that has gone to the postseason each of the last six full seasons, including NCAA Regional finals appearances in 2018, 2021 and 2023 and seven total NCAA Regional game victories. Â
This upcoming class includes two players from both Florida and Virginia and one each from Georgia and Tennessee.

Danner Allen (LHP, Charlotte Court House, Va./Randolph Henry HS)
Danner Allen is a top pitching recruit out of Randolph Henry High School. In her first three years of varsity softball, Allen has posted a 46-5 record with 811 strikeouts in 393 1/3 innings pitched, fashioning an ERA below 0.5. As a hitter, she holds a batting average near .500. Allen is a two-time James River District Player of the Year. Each of the last two years, Allen has been named to the VHSL Class 2 All-State Team. She is also a four-year letterwinner in golf. Her best ERA (0.42) came as a freshman, while she posted a personal-best 22 wins and 344 strikeouts as a sophomore.
Allen's aunt Courtney Ellis was a pitcher at Bluefield College.
Coach Richardson: "Danner will make an immediate impact in the circle. She is a southpaw who has an arsenal of pitches and above all; a competitor who wants the ball. Danner has the potential to be a dynamic two-way player for us. She hits from the left side and has consistency and power. She is a native Virginian who is excited to represent her home state at the highest level as a Liberty Flame."
Alexia Carrasquillo joins the Lady Flames as a highly-touted recruit out of Clermont, Fla. She has been mentioned in the Extra Elite 100 by ExtraInningSoftball.com, being the focus of numerous feature articles by the website. During the summer of 2023, she batted .377 with a .477 on base percentage and a 1.080 slugging percentage while playing for Unity-Johnson/Ross. She hit a two-run homer at the Triple Crown Nationals to help her team win the championship. Carrasquillo has played for some of the top club softball teams in the country, including the Mojo, Hotshots, Batbusters and Virginia Unity.
Coach Richardson: "Alexia is one of the most electric and competitive players in her class. She brings her love for the Lord, along with her God-given talents to the team. She is a leader. Alexia has an amazing testimony of perseverance and determination. She will set the bar for hard work and commitment to excellence!"
A native of Port Sr. Lucie, Fla., Felicity Fonseca is a standout in the outfield for Treasure Coast High School. After playing baseball at Treasure Coast as a freshman, she switched to softball during her sophomore campaign. A two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Fonseca batted .463 with a .569 on base percentage, .804 slugging percentage, four homers and eight stolen bases in 2022. This spring, she hit .377 with a .462 on base percentage and five steals.
Coach Richardson: "Felicity, affectionately known as "Fonzie," will bring amazing energy and spiritual leadership to the team. Her passion is worshiping the Lord and using the gifts He has given her in the sport of softball to be the best she can be to give Him the glory. She brings speed, inherent instincts, and a competitive mindset to the team."
Aubrey Fulcher comes to Liberty from nearby Appomattox County High School. A two-time all-district and all-region selection, she batted .404 with a .530 on base percentage and .500 slugging percentage as a sophomore when she helped her team to a VHSL Class 2 state championship. In 2023, Fulcher was voted to the All-Region first team with a .353 batting average, 1.045 OPS, four homers, 24 RBI and 14 stolen bases as her team finished as Region 2C runner-up. Also a standout in volleyball, Fulcher was named a second team all-state selection as a junior.
Coach Richardson: "Aubrey brings her infectious energy, passion and athleticism to the team. She is another native Virginian who is excited to represent her home state at the highest level as a Liberty Flame. We are excited to welcome her to the Flames Family."
Hallie Meeks is a power-hitting infielder for Lincoln County High School. Her career stats through three seasons include 53 homers and 165 RBI. As a freshman, she was named to Max Preps Underclassman Team 1 in addition to Rookie of the Year and All-District honors while batting .466 with 17 homers and 57 RBI. During her sophomore year, she hit .465 with 16 home runs and 45 RBI, claiming All-District Co-MVP and All-Region awards. This spring, she hit .558 with 20 homers and 63 RBI, earning All-State, All-Mid-State, All-Region. She was named the 2023 All-District MVP and Elk Valley Times Player of the Year, breaking her high school's single-season records for home runs and RBI.
Coach Richardson: "Hallie is an impact player. She brings a big bat to the offense and will shine bright in the infield. She wants the big moments! We look forward to seeing her contributions and leadership on the team."
Maci Strickland hails from Dallas, Ga., and is a strong shortstop at Allatoona High School. She is a four-time 6-6A All-Region selection, including first team in both 2022 and 2023. Strickland was named to the 2023 GADC Softball All-State team, batting .393 with 10 doubles, 22 RBI and 22 stolen bases. She is a three-time Positive Athlete Award recipient and batted a personal-best .423 as a sophomore. The Georgia native has totaled 79 steals, 72 RBI and 28 doubles in her high school career.
Strickland is also a four-year letterwinner in flag football. A two-time All-Region player, she was named first team All-Area, first team All-County and Offensive Player of the Year as a quarterback last year.
Coach Richardson: "Maci is an amazing talent and team player. Her personality and work ethic are infectious. She is the ultimate utility infielder who brings a competitive spirit to both sides of the ball. She will bring determination to get it done on both defense and offense. We look forward to her being a part of the program."
