
Bryan Leads Big Day for Liberty Multis

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Multi-event athletes got the Flames' 2023-24 indoor track & field season off to a strong start, Thursday at the Liberty Kickoff. Liberty ranks 1-2-3 in the heptathlon standings through four events at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, led by Anthony Bryan with 2,970 points.
Bryan is currently followed in the heptathlon standings by teammates Cole Peterlin (second place, 2,787 points) and Hunter Bleam (third place, 2,730 points) atop the 17-member field.
The 2023 ASUN heptathlon champion, Bryan posted the top marks in Thursday's middle two events, including the long jump (22-5.75) and shot put (42-8.75).
Peterlin, who is also a wide receiver on the 12-0 Liberty football team, won the high jump with the top clearance of his collegiate career. His 6-6.25 effort was 3.5 inches clear of anyone else in the field.
Redshirt freshman Bleam recorded the top marks of his collegiate career in three of four events on the day, including the 60 (7.35), long jump (20-4.5) and high jump (6-2.75). As a result, he compiled his best-ever day one score.

The Liberty Kickoff will conclude with a busy day of activity at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex on Friday. The pentathlon 60 hurdles will get things started at 9 a.m.
