LYNCHBURG, Va. - Fourth-seeded UTEP won the final two sets to earn a 3-1 (25-11, 15-25, 25-16, 25-21) win over the host, No. 5 seed Liberty in the 2023 CUSA Volleyball Championship Quarterfinal, Friday at Liberty Arena.
With the win, UTEP (21-8) advances to the semifinal against No. 1 seed Western Kentucky, tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Lady Flames finish their season at 15-14 after falling to UTEP in their last three contests of the campaign.

- For the match, UTEP outhit Liberty .286-.243. The Miners also led in kills (53-46), assists (49-42), aces (13-3), digs (40-36) and blocks (14.5-9).
- Torrance Lovesee scored a match-high 20 kills at a .444 pace. Alianza Darley totaled 13 kills and five blocks, while Madison Hill served up a match-high five aces. Sakira LaCour posted a match-best eight blocks, while Danika Washington and Kaya Weaver both registered six blocks. Kalia Kohler dished out 23 assists and Alyssa Sianez collected a match-high 12 digs.
- Kamryn Bacus scored 19 kills to lead the Lady Flames, while Kate Phillips sent down 12 kills. Delaney Dilfer dished out a match-high 33 assists. Erica Lowery collected 10 assists while Madison Blane contributed five blocks.
- After the two teams split a pair of lopsided sets to open the quarterfinal, UTEP broke open a tight third set with a 7-1 run midway through. Alyssa Sianez served up a pair of aces during the surge, which gave the Miners a 19-12 advantage and control of the set.
- Liberty appeared to be on the way to forcing a fifth set, leading 20-18 in the fourth before UTEP closed out the match with another 7-1 run. Three Miners blocks headlined the match-clinching flurry.
- UTEP is now 3-0 all-time against Liberty in volleyball, with all three meetings coming in the last eight days.
- Liberty, which went 23-9 a year ago, has posted a final record above .500 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since doing so in six straight seasons spanning 2007-12.
- Delaney Dilfer's match-high 33 assists enable her to wrap up her career with 2,423, putting her in a tie with Hannah Morris (2016-19) for ninth place in program history.
- Dilfer finishes the 2023 campaign with 1,019 assists, becoming the first Lady Flame since Kallie Corbin (2006-08) with 1,000 or more assists in consecutive seasons.
- ASUN Defensive Player of the Year Madison Blane's five blocks on Friday push her season total to 134. That ranks fourth at Liberty in the rally-scoring era and seventh overall for the Lady Flames.
