
Liberty Lacrosse Announces Challenging 2024 Schedule

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty lacrosse team has announced its 2024 schedule headlined by difficult matchups throughout. The Lady Flames open the season on Feb. 9 hosting No. 15 Virginia then visit No. 5 North Carolina on Feb. 13. In the fourth matchup of the year, Liberty hosts No. 14 Richmond on Feb. 24.
The Lady Flames open the Atlantic Sun season on March 29 in DeLand, Fla., taking on Stetson. Liberty wraps up the season with an ASUN showdown, hosting No. 24 Jacksonville on April 27. The ASUN Lacrosse Championships take place from May 2-4, hosted by Coastal Carolina.
The Lady Flames travel to face No. 9 Florida on March 27 and host No. 8 Notre Dame on April 11.
There is a lot of familiarity on the 2024 schedule. Liberty faced 12 of its 17 opponents last season. Liberty was 7-6 against these repeat opponents with six wins coming in ASUN matchups.
The Lady Flames look to build on a 12-7 2023 season that saw the Lady Flames secure their first-ever ASUN regular season title. Liberty picked up its first-ever victory over a ranked opponent after defeating No. 21 Jacksonville 12-10 on April 1. No. 1 seed Liberty faced No. 2 seed Jacksonville in the ASUN Lacrosse Championship final. Liberty came back to force overtime with a 13-13 score after four quarters, but Jacksonville prevailed with a 14-13 (OT) win.
The winner of the ASUN Championship will receive an automatic bid into the 2024 NCAA Division l Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Game-by-Game Breakdown
Liberty opens the season at home on Feb. 9, hosting No. 15 Virginia. It will be the first-ever meeting for the two programs.
The Lady Flames travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Feb. 9, for their first road game of the season at No. 5 North Carolina. The two met in Liberty's season opener last year, a match that North Carolina won at home 18-6 on Feb. 15.
Longwood comes to Lynchburg on Feb. 17 to kick off a stretch of home games for four straight contests. Liberty hosts No. 14 Richmond on Feb. 24. The Spiders were victorious at home in 2023's meeting on Feb. 18 with a 16-8 outcome. The Lady Flames then host Duke on Feb. 27 and Pitt on March 6 to close the home stretch. Liberty fell to Duke in Durham, N.C. 28 last spring, but topped Pitt on the road 13-7 on March 14 in what was the first-ever meeting between the two squads.
The Lady Flames leave for a pivotal road trip to face San Diego State on March 11 before heading East to take on Arizona State on March 13. Liberty comes home to face Louisville on March 21.
