LYNCHBURG, Va. - Western Kentucky pulled out a close 25-23 first set en route to sweeping Liberty, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-15), Tuesday at Liberty Arena.
The Hilltoppers (13-4, 3-0) remained unbeaten in Conference USA play with their eighth consecutive win overall. The Lady Flames (7-8, 0-3) are in search of their first CUSA win, falling for the eighth straight match.

- For the match, Western Kentucky outhit Liberty .430-.200. WKU's .430 hitting percentage was the highest by a Liberty opponent this season. The Hilltoppers led in aces (10-0) and blocks (10-3), while the Lady Flames held the advantage in kills (40-38) and assists (40-36).
- WKU's Paige Briggs hit .667 with a match-high 16 kills, also leading all players with five aces. Kaylee Cox scored 15 kills (.517) and added 10 digs. Callie Bauer dished out 30 assists while Gabby Weihe and Logan Grevengoed both posted four blocks.
- Kate Phillips sent down a team-high 11 kills, her fourth straight double-digit kill contest. Delaney Dilfer dished out a match-high 38 assists while Madison Blane hit .421 with 10 kills. Zoi Sherolli collected a season-high 10 digs. Kamryn Bacus scored eight kills at a .312 pace.
- Liberty outhit WKU .324-306 during the first set. The Lady Flames led 23-22 after Paige Briggs' attack went long. However, a successful Hilltoppers challenge overturned the call, giving the guests the one-point edge. Briggs then served an ace for a 24-22 lead and Cox ended the set at 25-23 with a kill.
- Western Kentucky now leads the all-time series against Liberty 2-0. The Hilltoppers won the only previous meeting, 3-1, on Aug. 30, 2003 in DeKalb, Ill.
- Sherolli reached double-digits in digs for the first time as a Lady Flame after transferring from Green Bay.
- Liberty is now 5-4 in sets decided by two points and 2-2 in extended sets so far this season.
- The Lady Flames were 7-0 after defeating No. 23 Hawai'i on Sept. 7 and have sustained eight straight setbacks since then.
- Today was the first time since Nov. 5, 2021 that Liberty has gotten swept at Liberty Arena.
- Western Kentucky has not lost a Conference USA regular-season contest since Oct. 19, 2018.
