
Liberty Sweeps ASUN Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

The Liberty swimming & diving team swept Atlantic Sun Swimming & Diving weekly honors.
Sophomore Mary Herndon was named ASUN Women's Diver of the Week, while freshman Kamryn Cannings was tabbed as ASUN Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Herndon receives her second career weekly honor, as she was named CCSA Diver of the Week on Jan. 17, 2023. Cannings joins Erin Curry (Oct. 26, 2011) and Gianni Pitto (Oct. 2, 2018) as the only three Liberty athletes to receive conference swimmer of the week awards following their first collegiate meet.
Hailing from Lugoff, S.C., Herndon got her sophomore season off to a strong start. She posted a pair of fourth-place finishes at the Seminole Fall Classic in Tallahassee, Fla. Herndon scored 222.45 points on three-meter springboard to claim fourth place while posting a score of 207.80 in one-meter diving.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Kamryn Cannings burst onto the scene in her first collegiate meet, posting two Top 15 national times on the weekend. She won the 200 fly in 2:01.43, a time which is currently 13th in the nation. Cannings finished second in the 100 fly in 54.76, ranking 14th nationally at present. In addition to her ASUN-leading 100 and 200 fly, she is ranked second in the ASUN in the 50 free and 100 free.
The Lady Flames will next compete at James Madison on Friday, Oct. 13. Diving will begin at 3:30 p.m. with swimming to follow at 5:30 p.m.
