Liberty to Face Chicago State and SIUE in OVC Action this Weekend

The Liberty Flames men's soccer are set for two Ohio Valley Conference matches this week. Liberty travel to Chicago, Ill., for its first OVC road match on Thursday at Chicago State. The Flames will square off in a rematch of this past Thursday's 7-1 Liberty victory at Osborne Stadium. On Sunday, Liberty returns home to host SIUE in a conference match.

- After opening OVC play with two home wins last weekend, Liberty will travel to Chicago State for its first conference road game on Thursday, before returning home to face SIUE on Sunday.
- Liberty opened conference play 2-0 for the first time since 2012 when it began its Big South slate at 2-0. this past weekend. The Flames ran their home record to 6-0 by defeating Chicago State 7-1 and HCU 3-1 to begin OVC action.
- Liberty has outscored its opponents, 26-14, so far in 2023. The Flames lead the OVC and enter the week fourth in the nation in total goals and scoring offense, averaging 2.89 goals per game,
- Luke Eberle leads the OVC in goals (7) and points (15). The senior is 11th in the nation in goals scored. On Sunday, Eberle collected his second multi-goal game of his career by scoring twice in Liberty's 3-1 win over HCU at Osborne Stadium.
- Michael Huss is second on the Flames and second in the OVC with four goals and 12 points. Gabe Findley has four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Leo Conneh also has 10 points. Liberty has four of the top six point leaders in the OVC.
- Freshman Conneh leads the OVC with seven assists. Conneh was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the first two goals of his career and recording two assists in the Flames' win over Chicago State this past Thursday. it is the first time a Liberty player scored six or more points in a game since Tresor Mbuyu had seven points in a 5-0 win at VMI on Aug. 28, 2018.
- Blake Franzen and Owen Moore have split time in the Liberty goal this season. The two have combined for a 1.56 goals-against average and a .682 save percentage.
- SIUE and Liberty will meet for the first time in their program histories on Sunday at Osborne Stadium. It will be the only meeting between the two teams during the OVC regular season. The Flames are unbeaten at home in 2023. Liberty has posted a 6-0 mark and is outscoring its opponents, 23-7, at home this season.
