
Flames to Host Final 2 Home Matches of Regular Season this Weekend

Lynchburg, Va. -Â The Liberty men's soccer team will host Lindenwood and UIW in its final two home games of the regular season at Osborne Stadium this weekend. With two weeks left in the conference's regular season, the Ohio Valley Conference matches will play a key role in deciding seeding for the first-ever OVC Men's Soccer Tournament.

- With two weeks left in the first Ohio Valley Conference regular season, Liberty, 8-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the OVC, will host its final two home games of the season at Osborne Stadium this weekend.
- The Flames, who are 6-1 at home this season, will host the Lindenwood Lions, 5-4-5 overall and 2-1-3 in the OVC, Thursday evening before welcoming the UIW Cardinals, 5-5-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the OVC, to Osborne for an afternoon contest on Sunday.
- Both contests will play a key role in the OVC standings which determine seeding for the conference's tournament. UIW enters the week second in the OVC with 11 points, one ahead of Liberty with 10 points. Meanwhile, Lindenwood begins the week in fourth place with nine points.
- Liberty enters the week after a 1-0-1 road trip. The Flames recorded their first shutout of the regular season at Eastern Illinois, 4-0, on Thursday and then tied at Southern Indiana on Sunday.
- Liberty has outscored its opponents, 31-19, so far in 2023 and leads the OVC in total goals scored. The Flames are seventh nationally in total goals and eighth in the nation in scoring offense with a 2.38 goals per game average.
- For the first time since 2018 when it scored 32 goals, Liberty has scored 30 or more goals in a season (31).
- Luke Eberle leads the OVC in goals with a career-high seven and is tied for the conference lead with 15 points. Eberle's seven goals are the most by a Flame since Kevin Mendoza and Tresor Mbuyu each scored 12 in 2018.
- Michael Huss and Gabe Findley are second on the Flames and are tied for second in the OVC with five goals. Huss also has four assists and is tied for third in the conference in points with 14. Meanwhile, Findley is tied for sixth in the league with 12 points.
- Forward Leo Conneh leads the OVC with seven assists and is 15th nationally. With two goals, the freshman has 11 points to tie him for seventh in the OVC in points.
- Four Flames among the top 10 in points in Eberle, Huss, Findley and Conneh. In addition, 12 different Liberty players have scored at least one goal this season.
- Blake Franzen and Owen Moore have split time in the Liberty goal this season. The two have combined for a 1.46 goals-against average and a .648 save percentage.
- Moore started the last two Liberty contests. The sophomore was in goal as the Flames recorded their first shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory at Eastern Illinois this past Thursday. Moore enters the week second in the OVC with a 1.00 goals-against average and is third with a .696 save percentage.
