Liberty Drops Nail Biter to No. 11 Penn State

Liberty hung with the No. 11 team in the Nation, Thursday night at State College, Pa., as the Lady Flames were tied with Penn State on the road with 12 minutes left in the game but late in the contest the Nittany Lions were able to pull out the 2-1 win over Liberty. Penn State (5-1-1) snaps Liberty’s three-game winning streak and falls to 4-2-1 on the season.

Turning Point
Liberty had to quickly play catch up after Penn State scored in the third minute of the contest to take an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Flames were able to tie the match at 1-1 just five minutes into the second half off a Grace Spade goal. Liberty was able to limit Penn State’s offensive attack throughout most of the match but late in the contest with 12 minutes left in the game the Nittany Lions were able to score the game-winning goal to come away with the victory.
