
Liberty Clinches ASUN No. 1 Seed With 1-0 Shutout at UNF

ASUN-leading Liberty pushed its conference record to a perfect 19-0 with a 1-0 shutout victory over North Florida on Saturday at UNF Softball Complex.
With the win in game one of today’s doubleheader, the Lady Flames (36-14, 19-0 ASUN) have wrapped up the No. 1 overall seed for the 2022 ASUN Softball Championship, which will be held May 10-14 at UNF Softball Complex. Liberty’s first game at the ASUN Softball Championship will be at 12:30 p.m. on May 12.
The Ospreys fall to 39-13, 16-6 in ASUN play and remain in second place in the ASUN East Division.
Turning Point
- Liberty’s Karlie Keeney and UNF’s Morgan Clausen matched zero for zero until the top of the sixth. Lou Allan singled with one out, and Denay Griffin then walked. Canetto lined a go-ahead double into the right-center gap, scoring pinch runner Heidorn. Griffin was thrown out trying to score on the play.
- That was all the support Keeney would need, as she retired the last eight batters she faced to nail down the two-hit shutout.
