
Seniors Shine in 13-2 Rout of Jacksonville, Securing Sweep

Liberty senior Megan Johnson pitched a one-hit gem and Liberty’s bats exploded for 13 runs in a 13-2, five-inning win over Jacksonville on Senior Day at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
Liberty (35-13) maintains a perfect 18-0 ASUN record with two weekends remaining in conference play after its sixth three-game league sweep of the season. Meanwhile, Jacksonville falls to 14-27, 8-10 in ASUN play.

- Liberty outhit Jacksonville 7-1 for the game, while the Lady Flames committed two errors and the Dolphins sustained one error.
- Johnson (3-0), pitching for the first time since April 1 against Bellarmine and starting for the first time since March 16 against North Carolina, came within one out of a no-hit shutout. She allowed two runs on one hit, walking four and striking out three.
- Jacksonville’s Skylar Whitty (9-9) drew the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on four hits, walking four in 2 1/3 innings pitched. Shelby Harpe allowed five runs on three hits, walking three in 2/3 of an inning, while Kari Holzrichter walked one in a scoreless inning.

Senior Lou Allan went 1-for-3, and Emily Kirby received her first collegiate action at first base, making one catch in the fifth inning. Turning Point
- One day after scoring just three runs off of Skylar Whitty in a 3-0 win, the Lady Flames got to her early, getting an RBI double from Hudson and a two-run homer from Griffin in the first inning.
- The Lady Flames built a 13-0 lead after four innings and Johnson had not allowed a hit to that point. With one out in the fifth, Johnson walked Madison Bratek and Madison Reynolds. The runners both moved up a base on a wild pitch before Allison Bratek’s two-out single broke up the no-hitter and shutout.

Liberty will host No. 14 Tennessee, Wednesday at 1 p.m. to wrap up a five-game homestand. Tennessee will be the fifth Top 25 opponent to visit Liberty Softball Stadium this season. The Lady Flames last faced Tennessee in an elimination game at the 2021 Knoxville Regional, eliminating the Lady Vols with a 6-4 win which was Liberty’s first in the all-time series.
