
Liberty Rallies for 6-2 Game 1 Victory at FGCU

Liberty scored four runs with two outs in the top of the fifth, overcoming a 2-0 deficit on the way to a 6-2, series-opening win over FGCU, Friday in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Lady Flames (29-13), coming off of a home loss to No. 2 Virginia Tech on Tuesday, remain perfect in ASUN play at 13-0. Meanwhile, FGCU falls to 13-26, 6-10 in ASUN games with its fourth straight loss.
Lightning in the Fort Myers area caused an extended delay during the middle of the fifth inning and will also delay the start of today’s second game of the doubleheader.

- McKenzie Wagoner improves to 5-3 on the season, earning the win with 4 1/3 innings of two-hit relief during which she walked one and struck out two. Starter Karlie Keeney allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walking one and fanning one in 2 2/3 innings pitched.

- Reedy Davenport went 2-for-4 and scored both of FGCU’s runs. The Eagles got RBI hits from Emily Estroff and Cana Davis.
Turning Point
- FGCU built a 2-0 lead, scoring once in the first and once in the third. Wagoner entered the circle for Keeney, and did not allow a run the rest of the way.
- Liberty trailed 2-0 with two outs and nobody on in the top of the fifth. Howard singled, sparking a stretch of six straight batters reaching base. Hudson’s two-run homer and Canetto’s bases-loaded two-run single propelled Liberty into the lead.
