
Liberty Blanks FGCU 5-0, Improves to 14-0 in ASUN Play

Liberty wrapped up its fifth ASUN doubleheader sweep of the season, blanking the host FGCU Eagles 5-0 in game two, Friday at FGCU Softball Complex.
Liberty (30-13) is now a perfect 14-0 in ASUN play, off to its best start to conference play in program history. Meanwhile, FGCU falls to 13-27, 6-11 in ASUN games following its fifth loss in a row.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit FGCU 10-1 for the game, with the Eagles committing the lone error. The Lady Flames left seven on base, compared to two stranded by FGCU.
- Kirby (7-4) earned the win, improving to 6-0 in ASUN play in the process with her third shutout of the season. She allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out nine.
- Riley Oakes (2-8) drew the loss, allowing three runs on four hits, walking one and striking out two in four innings. Emily Estroff pitched 2 1/3 innings of three-hit relief with three strikeouts, while Madi Wicker allowed wo runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning.
- Lou Allan went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored, good for her third three-hit game of the season. Paige Bachman recorded her first career multiple-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Caroline Hudson hit her 12th homer of the season and drove in two runs, while Mary Claire Wilson had two RBI as well.
Turning Point
- Kirby and Oakes matched zero for zero through three innings, as just one runner reached base combined during that span, a one-out FGCU base hit in the first. Kirby allowed just one baserunner after that, a leadoff walk in the sixth.
- Liberty quickly jumped ahead in the fourth, with the first three batters reaching and Allan hitting an RBI double. Later in the inning, Wilson made it 3-0 with a bases-loaded two-run single. Hudson added a two-run homer in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.

- Liberty is now 5-2 all-time against FGCU in softball, with all seven meetings occurring at FGCU Softball Complex. The Lady Flames have won all five meetings against the Eagles since joining the ASUN, beginning with a three-game series sweep at FGCU in 2019.
