
Liberty Downs No. 23 Notre Dame 6-3

Liberty earned its first Top 25 win of the season, posting a 6-3 win over No. 23 Notre Dame, Saturday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
The Lady Flames (12-6) have won six games in a row, including three straight to start the Liberty Softball Invitational. Notre Dame falls to 14-4 on the season, including 2-1 at this weekend’s invitational. The Irish had won eight straight games prior to today’s setback to Liberty.
Notre Dame was ranked No. 23 in this week's Softball America Top 25 Poll and No. 25 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Notable Numbers
- Notre Dame outhit Liberty 10-7 for the game. The Fighting Irish committed three errors. Liberty left 10 runners on base, hitting 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position, while Notre Dame stranded seven and hit 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
- Karlie Keeney (7-2) earned the complete-game win, allowing three runs on 10 hits. It was her seventh straight winning decision after starting the season 0-2.
- Payton Tidd (5-2) drew the loss, allowing four runs on three hits, walking four in one inning pitched. Alexis Holloway yielded two runs, one earned, on four hits, striking out six and walking one in five innings of relief.
- Alexis Soto batted 2-for-3, while Kara Canetto went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Devyn Howard hit a two-run homer, her first home run of the season.

Turning Point
- Liberty jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings. Howard’s second inning blast doubled the Lady Flames’ lead to 4-0.
- Notre Dame manufactured a run in the third, but Liberty added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
- The Irish narrowed the gap to 6-3 with a two-out bloop hit by Hanks in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout ended the game.

- Notre Dame leads the all-time series against Liberty 5-2, but Liberty is 2-1 against the Irish at Liberty Softball Stadium.
