
No. 3 Seed Liberty Moves Up to 2nd Place after Day 2 of NCAA Tallahassee Regional

No. 3 seed Liberty carded the best team score during Round 2 of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Tuesday to move into second place.
The Flames fired an 11-under par 277 during their second trip around the Seminole Legacy Golf Club (par 72, 7,505 yards).
Liberty is currently in second place with an overall 16-under par 560 (283-277) and trails No. 1 seed and regional host Florida State by eight strokes (271-281-552/24-under par).
Jonathan Yaun paced the way for the Flames during the second round, carding a 5-under par 67 to climb into a share of fifth place overall (71-67-138/6-under par).
The top five teams from each of the six NCAA Regionals will advance to the 2021 NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 28 – June 2.
Liberty will return to the Seminole Legacy Golf Club for tomorrow's final round where they will be paired up with No. 1 seed Florida State and No. 5 seed Georgia Tech once again. The teams will be sent off the No. 1 tee (par 4, 440 yards) starting at 8 a.m.
Round Recap – Liberty's Starting Five:
• Jonathan Yaun – T5 6-under par 138 (71-67)
• No. 21 Kieran Vincent – T5 6-under par 138 (65-73)
• Zach Barbin – T14 3-under par 141 (71-70)
• Ervin Chang – T29 1-over par 145 (76-69)
• No. 80 Alexandre Fuchs – T45 4-over par 148 (77-71)
Field Reflections:
• No. 1 seed Florida State used its familiarity with its home course to record the second-best team score of the day Tuesday – a 7-under par 552.
• The Flames hold a three-stroke lead over No. 5 seed Georgia Tech, who is in third place with a 13-under par 563 (277-286).
• No. 2 seed Georgia (285-282-567/9-under par) is in fourth place, while Ohio State is in fifth place (284-285-569/7-under par).
• TCU is currently the "odd team out" in sixth place (290-283-573/3-under par), trailing Ohio State by four strokes with the top five teams advancing after play tomorrow.
• Windy conditions continued to be a factor on Tuesday, with the 14-team field playing the newly renovated course at a 73.28 scoring average during Round 2.
• Fellow ASUN Conference player Michael Sakane of Jacksonville, who is competing as an individual, currently leads the 75-field with an 11-under par 133 (67-66).
• A total of 26 players in the 75-man field finished will enter the final round in red figures, including three of Liberty's starting five.
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• Yaun used five birdies and an eagle on the day on Tuesday to record his fifth sub-70 round of the season.
• Yaun carded an eagle two on the par-4 No. 2 hole (370 yards), which has the Flames tied for first place during the Regional with three eagles.
• Kieran Vincent, who was the clubhouse leader entering the day, is now tied with Yaun in fifth place with an overall 6-under par 138 (65-73).
• Vincent and Yaun are tied for third place in the field in par-4 scoring (3.90 scoring average/2-under par).
• Zach Barbin move up the Day 2 leaderboard following a 2-under par 70, his sixth round at par or better this season.
• Barbin overall is tied for 14th place with a 3-under par 141 (71-70), aided by 10 total birdies during the first two rounds.
• Ervin Chang and Alexandre Fuchs moved up 28 and 19 spots, respectively, following much improved second round scores.
• Chang is currently tied for 29th place with a 1-over par 145 (76-69), and Fuchs is tied for 45th place with a 4-over par 148 (77-71).
