
No. 15 Flames Finish in 4th Place at The Hayt

No. 15 Liberty closed its appearance at The Hayt with an even par 288, one of the better team scores on Monday, to finish in fourth place.
The Flames completed their trio of trips around the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,966 yards) with a 4-over par 868 (282-298-288).
Liberty's closing round 288 was the third-best final round score in the 14-team field on Monday, allowing Liberty to finish on shot clear of UCF (5-over par 869) and three shots ahead of No. 41 UAB (7-over par 871).
Liberty posted its fourth top-five finish of the spring season and its second-best finish in five appearances at the North Florida hosted event.
Kieran Vincent, who is individually ranked No. 14 in the country, led the Flames by finishing in fifth place with a 6-under par 210 (71-70-69).

Field Reflections:
• The 14-team field features nine teams currently ranked inside the top 50 in the latest Golfstat national rankings: Florida State (No. 1), Wake Forest (No. 3), Clemson (No. 14), Liberty (No. 15), USF (No. 23), North Florida (No. 26), Charlotte (No. 35), Louisville (No. 36) and UAB (No. 41).
• No. 14 Clemson ran away with the team title, closing with an impressive 12-under par 276 to post a winning score of 19-under par 845 (280-289-276).
• Tournament host and fellow ASUN foe North Florida, who is ranked No. 26 in the country, finished the event in second place with an 8-under par 856 (283-285-288).
• Florida State, the top ranked team in the country, finished the tournament three shots clear of the Flames to take third place with a 1-under par 863 (284-291-288).
• North Florida's freshman Nick Gabrelcik claimed medalist honors with a 10-under par 206 (69-68-69) to win by two strokes on his home course.
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• The Hayt marked the fifth-consecutive event Liberty has played this spring inside the state of Florida.
• The Flames were scheduled to participate in the General Hackler Championship, March 14-16, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., but were unable to play in the event.
• Liberty ranked second in the 14-team field with 53 total birdies during the event.
• Alexandre Fuchs (14), Kieran Vincent (13) and Jonathan Yaun (13) accounted for 40 of Liberty's 53 total birdies.
• Kieran Vincent closed the tournament with a 3-under par 69, his seventh sub-70 round out of 15 total rounds during the 2021 spring season.
• Vincent finished one stroke behind Florida State's John Pak (7-under par 209/69-69-71), who is currently the No. 1 ranked collegiate golfer in the country.
• Vincent has finished top five in all five of Liberty's spring events and currently leads the Flames with a 69.8 scoring average.
• Only nine players in the 87-man field managed to finish the event in red figures with the Flames accounting for two of the nine (Kieran Vincent -6/210; Jonathan Yaun -2/214).
• Yaun finished tied for eighth place with a 2-under par 214 (66-76-72), marking the third tournament this spring he has posted an under-par final total.
