
No. 15 Liberty tied for 4th Place at The Hayt

No. 15 Liberty was not able to keep pace with the top teams during the afternoon flight on Sunday where the Flames find themselves tied for fourth place at The Hayt.
The Flames were in second place following a 6-under par 282 during their first time around the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,966 yards).
However, the winds picked up during the afternoon flight at the Oceanside course and Liberty closed the day with a 10-over par 298.
The Flames (282-298) will enter tomorrow's final round tied for fourth place with UCF (286-294). The two squads are tied for fourth place with a 4-over par 580.
Round Recap – Liberty's Starting Five:
• No. 14 Kieran Vincent – T4 3-under par 141 (71-70)
• Jonathan Yaun – T7 2-under par 142 (66-76)
• No. 46 Alexandre Fuchs – T20 2-over par 146 (72-74)
• Zach Barbin – T52 7-over par 151 (73-78)
• Connor Polender – T72 12-over par 156 (75-81)
Field Reflections:
• The 14-team field features nine teams currently ranked inside the top 50 in the latest Golfstat national rankings: Florida State (No. 1), Wake Forest (No. 3), Clemson (No. 14), Liberty (No. 15), USF (No. 23), North Florida (No. 26), Charlotte (No. 35), Louisville (No. 36) and UAB (No. 41).
• Tournament host and fellow ASUN foe North Florida, who is ranked No. 26 in the country, leads the field with an 8-under par 568 (283-285).
• No. 14 Clemson, the leader following the morning flight, is one stroke behind the host Ospreys with a 7-under par 569 (280-289).
• Florida State, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, is in third place following an opening day 1-under par 575 (284-291).
• North Florida's Nick Gabrelcik, who is individually ranked No. 4 in the country, leads the 87-player field with a score of 7-under par 137 (69-68).
• The Sawgrass Country Club played at a 1.74 higher stroke average with the windy afternoon conditions (Round 1 scoring average: 74.20; Round 2 scoring average: 74.94).
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• The Flames were one of six teams in the 14-team field to fire an under-par score during the opening round on Sunday.
• Liberty was one of seven teams to shot 10-over par or higher during the blustery afternoon flight.
The Flames finished the day ranked third in the field with 33 total birdies.
• Alexandre Fuchs, who individually ranks No. 46 in the country, is tied for the individual lead with 10 birdies.
• Jonathan Yaun was one of 11 players to card an eagle on Sunday, holing out for an eagle two on the par-4, No. 17 hole (433 yards).
• Yaun was the individual leader following the first round after the junior carded a 6-under par 66, matching his low 18-hole total of the 2021 spring season.
• Yaun enters tomorrow's final round tied for seventh place with a 2-under par 142 (66-76).
• Kieran Vincent, who ranks No. 14 in the country, leads the Flames and is tied for fourth place with a 3-under par 141 (71-70).
• Yaun (eight birdies) and Vincent (seven birdies) followed closely behind Fuchs in the birdie department, with the three players accounting for 25 of Liberty's 33 birdies.
