For the second time this season, Liberty field hockey's Jill Bolton has been honored as the Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week.
Bolton, a senior forward, received the same distinction two weeks ago (Feb. 24). Sophomore forward Daniella Rhodes earned NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17, giving the Lady Flames three national weekly honors in a season for the first time in program history.
Bolton was also named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for a second time this season on Monday by the league office. She paced the team with eight points on three goals and two assists in last weekend's victories over Old Dominion.
Bolton scored the Lady Flames' final two goals of Saturday's 4-1 win. The senior also added assists on both goals from Rhodes. On Sunday, Bolton scored in the 47th minute, putting Liberty in front 2-0 in what turned out to be a 2-0 triumph.
In seven games this year, Bolton leads the team in assists (7) and ranks second in goals (7) and points. She ranked second in the nation in assists per game (1.00) and eighth in goals per game (1.00).
Bolton and the Lady Flames (7-0, 6-0 BIG EAST) will head to Philadelphia, Pa. for a two-game series this weekend versus Connecticut (3-0, 2-0 BIG EAST). The Lady Flames and the Huskies will battle in a pair of neutral site contests at Temple's Howarth Field on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's contest will begin at 3:30 p.m., and Sunday's game will start at 2:30 p.m.
Congrats to Jill Bolton on being named the @NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week for a second time this season!??
