For the first time in program history, the Liberty Flames defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels, 1-0, Wednesday evening at Dorrance Field.
Forward Noah Holmes scored the game-winning goal during the 52nd minute. Off a pass by midfielder Marko Mitrevski, Holmes buried a shot off the right-side post for the game's lone goal.
The Flames have not allowed a goal this season, as head coach Kelly Findley's squad once again had a strong defensive effort. Liberty allowed North Carolina just one shot on goal during the contest.
Liberty moves to 4-0-1 on the season. North Carolina drops to 3-3-2.

Less than seven minutes into the second half, Mitrevski broke free from a Tar Heels defender and lifted a pass into the center off the box for Holmes. Holmes quickly settled the ball at his feet and ripped a shot into the lower right-hand corner of the net for a 1-0 Liberty advantage.
