
Liberty Downs Davidson in First Road Contest of Season 1-0

A strong defensive effort propelled the Liberty Flames to a 1-0 victory over the Davidson Wildcats in their first road contest of the season, Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.
Liberty struck for the game's lone goal less than 15 minutes into the contest. Off a corner kick by Seth Clark, senior forward Musa Morris scored his first goal of the season to give the Flames a 1-0 advantage, which they never relinquished.
The game was a defensive battle between the two teams. The Flames and Wildcats combined to put just three shots on goal.
Liberty moves to 2-0. Davidson drops to 0-1.

Turning Point
With Liberty leading 1-0 late in the first half, Davidson had a chance at a scoring opportunity with a corner kick. Off the kick, Jack Wilson's shot attempt was blocked. Defender Quinn Dudek collected the loose ball and fired a shot from 25 yards out over the top of the goal, keeping the Flames in front. After that opportunity, the Wildcats were not able to pressure the Flames on the attack until late in the match.

- For the seventh time in eight years, the Flames have started the year with a 2-0 mark.
- Goalkeeper Danny Cordero records his second shut out in as many games. The sophomore made two saves in the contest.
- Both Morris and Clark have pointed in each of Liberty's first two games. In Saturday's 4-0 win over Belmont, Morris assisted on Clark's first goal of the season.
- In the defensive contest, the Flames had one shot on goal, while the Wildcats had two shots on goal. The match ended with host Davidson putting a shot off a goalpost as time ran out.
- Tonight's contest was the first meeting between the Flames and Wildcats since 2014. The Liberty win was its second in five matches at Davidson in program history.
- Liberty head coach Kelly Findley served as an assistant on the Davidson coaching staff in 2018.
