
Liberty Storms Back for 3-1 Win Over Jacksonville

Liberty shook off a 25-23 first-set loss, taking the next three sets in a row for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18) home win over Jacksonville on Sunday at Liberty Arena.
The Lady Flames (7-8) have wrapped up the first half of ASUN play with a 3-5 record, snapping a five-match winless streak today. Meanwhile, Jacksonville falls to 4-16 overall with a 1-7 conference record.
Liberty participated in a pair of cancer awareness fundraisers this weekend. Today, the Lady Flames partnered with the Side-Out Foundation to raise funds and awareness for patients with metastatic breast cancer.
Notable Numbers
• Liberty outhit Jacksonville .237-.129 for the match. The Lady Flames held wide leads in aces (12-7), digs (71-54) and kills (56-41), while the Dolphins led 8-7 in blocks.
• Trinity Watts hit a season-high .462 with 14 kills. Rajini Fitzmaurice (10 kills, 14 digs) and Kate Phillips (10 kill, 12 digs) both registered double-doubles, while Amaya Williams totaled a match-high 26 assists to go along with nine digs. Five different Lady Flames recorded multiple aces, led by Grace Allread’s three. Kennedi Sutter scored nine kills, while Aspen Thompson posted four blocks and Lindsey Hardesty collected 14 digs.
• Isa Dostal scored 10 kills at a .409 pace for the Dolhpins, while Keyauna Linwood tied for the match high with four blocks. Niccola Bozzini and Gyrani Rogers served up three aces each, while Kariana Ayala collected a match-high 15 digs.
Turning Point
• Jacksonville led the opening set from start to finish, holding off a later Liberty run to win, 25-23.
• The Lady Flames took control in set two, scoring 19 kills at a .333 pace to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 victory. Liberty’s service game (six aces) propelled the Lady Flames to a 25-18 set-three win, before the home team won set four by a matching score, hitting .312 as a squad.

• Liberty is now 6-1 all-time against Jacksonville in volleyball, including a perfect 5-0 since joining the ASUN in 2018.
• Watts’ .462 hitting percentage was the highest attack percentage by a Lady Flame this season.
