
Men's DMR Places 2nd on Friday

Liberty's men's distance medley relay quartet of Noah Tindale, Michael Rose, Ally Kipchirchir and Joe Spitzer placed a close second to Navy, Friday evening at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. That marked the home team's best finish during a light opening day of action during the sixth annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
Freshman Tindale (3:01.37 for 1,200 meters), freshman Rose (49.20 for 400), sophomore Kipchirchir (1:54.93 for 800) and sophomore Spitzer (4:16.03 for 1,600) produced a final time of 10:01.52. That ranks No. 3 in ASUN Conference history and No. 6 in program history.
Defending ASUN champion Chelsea Igberaese heaved the weight a season-best 61-2.75 for third place in the event. Teammate Naomi Mojica added more than a foot to her previous personal best, reaching 58-10 for eighth in the competition and sixth in Lady Flames history.
The Lady Flames placed four runners in the top nine of Friday's women's 5K, with all four recording big personal bests. They included Lauren Hirneisen (fifth place, 18:00.36, previous best was 18:35.45), Katie MacDougall (sixth, 18:02.95, previous best was 18:53.19), Jamie Anderson (seventh, 18:06.23, previous best was 18:28.84) and Kyley Sorg (ninth, 18:08.45, previous best was 18:14.26).

Meanwhile, Makenzy Mizera will get Liberty's Saturday started at the 2020 USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., beginning the women's long jump at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.
