CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Liberty's Ethan Stansbury (3:49.68 1,500) and Eli Julian (9:31.99 steeplechase) recorded personal bests on the Flames' light day of action at the Charlotte Invitational on Friday.
Stansbury, who dipped below 3:50 for the first time in his career, was one of 18 sub-3:50 runners between Friday evening's trio of men's 1,500 invitational heats. Stansbury becomes the third Flame to go under 3:50 this season, joining Dale Hall (3:47.34) and Michael Long (3:49.07).
Running not far from his hometown of China Grove, N.C., Julian shaved three seconds off his steeplechase best with his 9:31.99.
Hunter Bleam reached 161-4 to finish seventh in the decathlete's first javelin competition of the season.

Liberty will close out its weekend of competition on Saturday, with Charlotte Invitational events beginning at 11 a.m. and Penn Relays action getting started at 11:30.
