Nationally-ranked Liberty, currently the No. 19 team in the country, will head to the state of Pennsylvania for a pair of road matches, this weekend.
The Lady Flames (4-2) will play their first BIG EAST game of 2018 at Villanova (3-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) at the Villanova Field Hockey Field in Conshohocken, Pa, on Friday evening. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. Liberty will then head about 75 miles north of the Philadelphia area for a 1 p.m. Sunday non-conference bout against the Lafayette Leopards (1-6) at Rappolt Field in Easton, Pa.
The Lady Flames are coming off a thrilling 3-2 home victory over No. 7 Virginia this past Sunday at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. Villanova dropped its last contest at Monmouth by a 3-1 score, last Sunday. Lafayette is coming off a 4-0 loss to Albany (last Sunday) but is 1-0 in the Patriot League, with a win over Lehigh in overtime, last Friday.

Friday's match between Liberty and Villanova will be streamed on Nova Nation All-Access. A paid subscription is required to view the broadcast. Live stats (via StatBroadcast) will be available for the game, courtesy of Villanova Media Relations. Lafayette will be offering live video (through Stadium) and live stats (through SIDEARM Stats) on Sunday as well.

Series History
Liberty is 3-0 all-time against Villanova, including a 2-0 mark against the Wildcats in BIG EAST openers. This will be the third straight year the Lady Flames have taken on Villanova in their conference opener. In Liberty's first-ever BIG EAST contest (Sept. 16, 2016), the Lady Flames bested the Wildcats 5-1 at the Villanova Field Hockey Field.
The Lady Flames are 1-1 in the all-time series with Lafayette. The two teams last met during the 2015 season, a 2-1 home victory by Liberty.

- Liberty is No. 20 in the first NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing of the season, which was released earlier this week.
- The Lady Flames have outscored the Villanova Wildcats by a combined 8-1 score in two BIG EAST openers (2016, 2017).
- Ten of Liberty's 26 players hail from the state of Pennsylvania.
- The Lady Flames remain in the top 10 in the nation in five different statistical categories: scoring average (No. 5, 3.65), goals per game (No. 7, 3.67), points per game (No. 7, 10.17), assists per game (No. 8, 2.83) and scoring margin (No. 10, 1.99).
- Senior Agueda Moroni is second in the nation in goals per game (1.67) and points per game (4.00) and leads the BIG EAST in both categories.
- Liberty freshman forward Alivia Klopp's game-winning goal last Sunday versus No. 7 Virginia was the No. 9 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays listing on Monday morning.
- The Lady Flames were supposed to open their BIG EAST slate last week at home versus Temple. However, inclement weather related to Hurricane Florence forced the postponement of the match. That game will now be made up next Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
