The Starting 5 - Liberty's Top Storylines
• Liberty (1-5) will look to halt a three-game losing streak on Thursday when it welcomes CAA preseason favorite James Madison (4-1) to the Vines Center for the Lady Flames' final home game of 2018.

• The Commonwealth rivals are meeting for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons. JMU has won four straight matchups with the Lady Flames.

• Liberty is 22-8 in its last 30 meeting with in-state opponents, but 0-2 (Virginia Tech and Norfolk State) so far in 2018-19.

• Emily Lytle is averaging a team-high 16.3 ppg for the Lady Flames. She is the first player to score in double figures in six straight games to begin her Liberty career since Karly Buer did so during the 2014-15 season's first eight contests.

• Fellow sophomore Bridgette Rettstatt has reached double digits in three of her last four games after doing so in two of her first 29 outings as a Lady Flame. She averaged 13.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg at last weekend's Christmas City Classic, posting the first back-to-back double-digit scoring outputs of her career.

Notes and Anecdotes - Liberty vs. James Madison
• James Madison has been Liberty's most frequently played non-conference opponent in recent years. Thursday's game will mark the teams' 12th meeting in the last 13 seasons. The year Liberty and JMU did not face one another (2014-15), both teams played NCAA Tournament first round games in Chapel Hill, N.C.

• The road team has won four of the last six Liberty-JMU matchups, including the Dukes' 62-48 victory at the Vines Center on Nov. 15, 2016.

• JMU has won its last four meetings with Liberty overall (last Lady Flames victory - Dec. 4, 2012) and its last four visits to the Vines Center (last Lady Flames victory - Dec. 4, 2007).

• James Madison, which has made five NCAA Tournament appearances in the last nine years, was picked to win the 2019 CAA championship and is off to a 4-1 start. CAA Preseason Player of the Year Kamiah Smalls paces the Dukes with 17.0 ppg.

• As usual in games involving Carey Green-coached teams, rebounding will be a key stat to watch on Thursday. Liberty tops the ASUN with a +4.8 rebound margin, while JMU ranks No. 17 nationally at +13.6.

• Both Liberty and JMU are scheduled to move into new home arenas in time for the 2020-21 season, so Thursday will likely mark the Dukes' final visit to the Vines Center.

Competing Against the Commonwealth
• The Lady Flames are 22-8 in their last 30 games against in-state opponents.

• Liberty is 0-2 versus Commonwealth foes this season, thanks to a 72-61 home-opening loss to Virginia Tech on Nov. 13 and a 66-53 setback to Norfolk State on Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa.

• Thursday's matchup with James Madison is Liberty's last scheduled Commonwealth clash for the season.

Liberty vs. the CAA
• Liberty is 19-38 all-time versus Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opponents, including 15-16 under Carey Green.

• The Lady Flames have lost three consecutive matchups with CAA foes, all at the hands of James Madison.

• Liberty's last win over a CAA opponent was a 72-63 home win over Elon on Nov. 16, 2015. KK Barbour was the only current Lady Flame to appear in that game, contributing three points and three rebounds.

• The Lady Flames' history against the CAA dates back to a 65-51 win over William & Mary on Feb. 17, 1984, during the first season of conference play. Liberty has squared off with a CAA opponent during every season from 1998-99 through present.
