Thoughts from Coach Parsley-Blocker
"I think the team demonstrated tremendous poise, and we wore down a tough Old Dominion team over 70 minutes. I'm proud of our fitness level and the girls' ability to prioritize recovery. We look forward welcoming No. 1 UNC to Lynchburg on Sunday."
Turning Point
With the two teams deadlocked in a 0-0 tie for the first 40-plus minutes, Liberty finally broke through on its seventh penalty corner of the contest in the 44th minute. Following an insert from Fortenbaugh, Moroni sent a shot heading toward the left corner of the goal that was tipped in by Fortenbaugh.
Fortenbaugh's first career-game winning goal and third marker of the season put the visiting Lady Flames ahead for good. Liberty dominated play in the second half, outshooting ODU 6-1 while tacking on the final goal from van Aarle with just over 11 minutes left in the contest.
