Following the golf team's victory at the Sea Best Invitational last week in Jacksonville, Fla., Liberty Flames Sports Network reporter Alan York had a chance to catch up with Liberty head men's golf coach Jeff Thomas.
The two recapped the Flames' victory at the Sea Best Invitational, where Liberty finished tied for first place with North Florida, but was declared the team victor based upon their final round score. The team victory was Liberty's 23rd NCAA Division I tournament win in program history.
The strong start to the Flames' spring schedule allowed Liberty to move to No. 24 in the latest Golfstat rankings and up to No. 35 in the latest Golfweek rankings. The No. 24 ranking in Golfstat is the team's highest ranking since holding down the same spot following the conclusion of play in the fall of 2012.
Liberty returns to the "Sunshine State" this weekend to participate in the Gator Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played on Florida's home course, the Mark Bostick Golf Course, in Gainesville, Fla.
