The Liberty field hockey squad saw four of its members selected to the 2014 NorPac All-Conference first and second teams on Wednesday evening at the league's annual awards banquet held at DeRosa University Center on the campus of the University of the Pacific.
Stanford reaped the benefits of a record-setting season, taking home five of the NorPac's major awards including Player of the Year (Kelsey Harbin), Offensive Player of the Year (Alex McCawley), Defensive Player of the Year (Dulcie Davies), Freshman of the Year (Katie Keyser) and Coach of the Year (Tara Danielson).
Rounding out the season's top awards, Liberty's own senior Helen Doolittle was recognized as the Sheryl Johnson Academic Award recipient and sophomore Laura Pujade of Pacific was presented with the Julie Nagel Extraordinary Teammate Award.
Doolittle was also tabbed to the All-Academic Team for her efforts in the classroom. Joining Doolittle on the scholastic listing were teammates Serena Barr and Olivia Carroll.
Doolittle has garnered a spot on the All-Academic Team for the third straight season. Doolittle received the Sheryl Johnson Academic Award after holding a perfect 4.00 GPA. Already a summa cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies, Doolittle is currently working toward a Masters of Arts degree in human services counseling (marriage and family concentration).
A three-time NFHCA scholar-athlete and two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, Doolittle was selected to the 2013 Capitol One CoSIDA Academic All-District team and is a two-time VaSID Academic All-State team member.
Sarah Gipe was named to the first team all-conference for her outstanding season during her junior campaign. The Greencastle, Pa. native notched a personal single-season high 15 goals, as well as, a new personal single-season best 36 points to lead the squad in both categories.
Gipe was joined on the first team all-conference listing by the Barr twins, Serena and Bethany. Serena garners the honor for the second year in a row, while sister Bethany is making her first appearance on the squad.
Serena finished the regular season ranked second on the team with seven assists and enters this weekend's NorPac Tournament with 15 points. Bethany ranks third on the team with seven goals and 17 points, while posting the team's second highest shot total (46).
Ashlee Krulock was named to the second team all-conference squad after finishing the regular season with 10 goals and eight assists. Krulock finished first on the team in assists and second on the team in goals and points with 28.
The Lady Flames will start to defend their 2013 NorPac Tournament title on Friday when they face the winner of No. 2W California and No. 3E Appalachian State. Match time for the semifinal game is set for 2:30 p.m. at Pacific's Field Hockey Turf.
