All runs by both teams in the contest were scored in the fifth and sixth innings.
Cassie Hendrix ripped a two-out single to left to record Liberty's first hit of the game in the top of the third, but was caught stealing during the next at-bat to send the scoreless game into the bottom of the third.
The Buccaneers put a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the third, when Annie Martin drew a walk, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Amy Campbell. But pitcher Katie Warrington fanned leadoff hitter Cheniece Cason, and Lucy Schneider grounded out to shortstop to end the inning.
The Lady Flames attacked in the top of the fifth. After Jenna Eatmon drew a two-out walk, Kaylee West busted her second home run of the year with a long shot to left center field, giving Liberty a 2-0 advantage.
Marlina DeLisa answered for East Tennessee State in the bottom of the fifth with a one-out home run to left center, her first of the year, to bring the score to 2-1. Martin then reached when she was hit by a pitch with one out, but West caught Campbell's line drive and immediately tagged first for the unassisted double play to end any future threat.
J'nae Jefferson extended her hitting streak to seven games during her next at-bat, ripping a double down the left field line to lead off the sixth inning. Jenny Law followed up with an infield single, and Jefferson moved to third. After Law stole second, Kelly Strickland busted a single to left, bringing in Jefferson to push the score to 3-1.
The Lady Flames weren't done scoring yet, as Amber DePasquale and Bridgett Woods drew back-to-back walks to bring in another run.
With two outs, West singled on a pop fly that dropped in front of the shortstop for an RBI base hit, and Hendrix singled to right field, driving in another run, to give the Lady Flames a 6-1 lead.
East Tennessee State answered with two runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth, when cleanup hitter Trisha Massenzo homered to center field to bring the score to 6-3.
But Liberty held on, shutting down the Buccaneer offense the rest of the way to secure the 6-3 victory.
With the win, the Lady Flames improve to 11-6 on the year, while East Tennessee State drops to 9-14.
West led Liberty, batting 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Hendrix was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
East Tennessee State was led by Massenzo, who was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Katie Warrington picked up the win in the circle, improving to 5-1 on the year, while Buccaneer starter Jessica Duncan drops to 5-4.
