- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Brad Soucie enters his first season at Liberty University after spending five years at the University of New Mexico.
Soucie has been a part of Ritchie McKay’s staff since 1995 when the two helped resurrect the program at Portland State, which had been dormant for 15 years. He followed McKay to Colorado State and Oregon State before heading to New Mexico in the spring of 2002. At all three previous stops, Soucie was the recruiting coordinator as well as an on-floor coach.
A gifted outside shooter in his own right, Soucie played a big part in the development of former Lobo Ruben Douglas, who led the nation in scoring (28.0 ppg) in 2002-03.
Soucie played college basketball at Eastern Michigan for two seasons before transferring to Christian Heritage College in El Cajon, Calif. While at EMU, Soucie helped lead the Eagles to the 1986 NCAA Tournament where he set a first-round record with eight 3-pointers against Pittsburgh. Soucie played his final two years at CHC, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later served as an assistant coach for two years.
The 38-year old Soucie played in the NBA Summer League with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks. He was also a member of the Athletes-in-Action traveling team.
Soucie and his wife Kendra have three children: daughters Mikayla, 8 and Mariah 3, and son Levi, 6.
