Volunteer Assistant Coach

Ignacio "Nacho" Garrido joined the Liberty men's tennis staff as a volunteer assistant coach in June 2019.

"Nacho has great experience as the top junior in Mexico and four-year starter for USC Upstate," Schwandt stated. "He will help our program and culture tremendously because of his relational skills, work ethic and character."

Garrido graduated from USC Upstate in Dec. 2018 with a bachelor's degree in communications: public relations and was a member of the men's tennis team for four seasons. He was an ASUN All-Conference second team performer and a member of the ASUN All-Freshmen team in 2015. Garrido also earned the Leadership Award from the USC Upstate Athletic Department in 2017.

Garrido excelled in the No. 4 slot in the Spartans' lineup in 2015 as a freshman with a 10-4 record and a perfect 5-0 mark in ASUN Conference singles bouts. The Oaxaca, Mexico, native posted a 12-9 spring singles record as a junior in 2017. He went 14-7 in ASUN singles contests during his four-year career.

In doubles, Garrido held a 12-8 mark in ASUN bouts and went a combined 22-13 between the No. 2 and No. 3 positions during his time at USC Upstate.

Garrido will be pursuing a master's degree in sport management while at Liberty.
