Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
I chose liberty because when I had my first visit I immediately felt at home. Everyone was so welcoming! I also knew going to liberty would not only help me become a better person but would be a good place to grow in my faith as well.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
Not really, I just have to listen to music before games. It helps me focus.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My mom inspires me every day to become a better person. She is selfless and puts everyone above her own needs.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
I’m not sure they are so many, it’s hard to pick just one.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
The number I picked was 31 because 13 wasn’t available. I had been number 13 my whole life up to college because of Alex Morgan.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My mom, Karen Mason, played tennis at Emory and Henry College. My uncle, Steven Secord, played tennis at James Madison University. My cousin, Canon Secord, played tennis at Bridgewater College and James Madison University. My brother, Colin Mason, is playing soccer at Hampden Sydney University.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
My favorite meal would be dinner. For that meal I would have steak with a baked potato and brussel sprouts.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
I check my text messages first.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
I love to listen to music.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Alex Morgan.
What is your favorite possession and why?
My grandma’s ring that I turned into a necklace is my favorite possession. She had passed a few years ago, so it reminds me of her when I wear it.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice.
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
My dream vacation spot would be Greece because of the views and the food.
