Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
It’s felt like home since day one that I stepped on campus my freshman year. There’s not another university I’d dream of going to. It’s no secret that the atmosphere and culture of this place is something that speaks volumes to everyone this team encounters. The athletics are amazing, but the support system and comfort of knowing you’re an athlete but a child of God above all else is beyond special.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I always write a Bible verse on my wrist pregame, so that whether it’s a loss or a win I can look down and remember why I’m playing this sport. I also always pray out loud pregame with my teammates.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My dad has always inspired me to be the best version of myself and give 110% effort at everything I do in life. He’s taught and shown me how to carry myself on and off the field, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
Winning my program’s first ever state championship in my senior year after years of dedication and hard work.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I’m hoping to get number 31 next year, if possible, to honor a close friend who passed away.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My grandpa Nelson played football at Vanderbilt, and my grandpa Steve played baseball at Lipscomb University.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and has all my favorite comfort foods!
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
Instagram
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
Hiking
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
Two dogs, Ox (black lab) and Moose (Shih Tzu/poodle mix)
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Sydney McLaughlin
What is your favorite possession and why?
My Bible, I look to it daily for encouragement, wisdom, and connection with the Lord.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
“Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Asia, I want to backpack the Himalayas someday.
