What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
Liberty University is a unique place that challenges me to grow not just as a student-athlete, but also as a man of God, and I’m truly grateful to be here.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I'm a bit of a hockey fan, so I watch Henrik Zetterberg's "Conn Smythe" shift of the 2008 Stanley Cup finals. I listen to music as well.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
Hard to pick any person, but I will go with my father. He taught me how to be a man and to lead well. He has shown up every single day of my life, and I am so lucky to have him.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
Playing for the Charlotte Eagles.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
18 was my father’s number, as well as my very first number growing up.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
Marty McCarthy (Father)- College baseball at Toledo University and played in the Detroit Tigers organization. Shannon McCarthy (Sister)- College soccer at the University of Miami, played several years professional overseas.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
Dinner - Chicken and Pasta.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
ESPN or Messages.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
Spending time with my loved ones.
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
Tyrus and Teemu, both long-haired German Shepards.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Henrik Zetterberg
What is your favorite possession and why?
I’m not a big memorabilia guy.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?

What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Ireland, being an Irish lad, I would like to go to see Ireland.

- Served as team captain in 2023 and 2024
- Played in 47 games with 46 starts, scoring four goals and having five assists
- Named to the 2023 and 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic (CSC) Academic All-District® NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Team
- Named to the Horizon League All-Academic team in 2024 and was an honorable mention selection in 2023
- Tied for second on the team with four assists in 2024
