Alex Krakowiak joined the Liberty men's soccer coaching staff in the spring of 2026. The former collegiate standout for Liberty and James Madison will serve as an assistant coach.
" I am thrilled to elevate Alex to assistant coach," stated Wells. "I have know him for some time now but he knows Liberty better than me and what it means to play for his school. I look forward to learning from him and helping in his first chapter of college coaching."
Krakowiak brings experience across multiple coaching environments. During the last two seasons, he has served as an assistant coach for Lynchburg FC in the USPL. He also played for the team in 2025.
This past season, Krakowiak was part of the Virginia South Coaching Staff of the Year as Lynchburg FC captured the 2026 DMV South Regular Season Championship.
In 2025, Lynchburg FC also won the regular-season title and claimed the DMV South Tournament title. The Lynchburg FC staff was named the DMV South Coaching Staff of the Year.
Krakowiak has also coached the Central Virginia United U15 Boys team and provided private coaching since 2022.
Krakowiak began his collegiate playing career at James Madison. A member of the Dukes from 2020-23, the midfielder played in 60 games, starting 49. He also served as team captain during his time with the team. In 2023, he was part of James Madison’s NCAA Sweet 16 team.
Krakowiak was named to the All-Sun Belt second team in 2022 and to the CAA third team in 2021. He was also selected to the 2022 VaSID All-State first team and the 2020-2021 CAA All-Tournament team. In addition, he was named to the 2020-21 CAA All-Rookie team.
Off the field, he was a two-time member of the CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2020-21, 2021), a member of the 2022-23 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll and a member of the 2024-25 OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
In 2024, Krakowiak finished his Division I playing career at Liberty. The midfielder started all 17 games for the Flames.
Krakowiak earned caps with the Polish Youth National Teams at the U16-U19 levels. During his time with the national team, he played in matches against England, Norway and Portugal.
He also played for the Toronto FC Academy from age 12 to 19, facing teams such as Real Madrid, Arsenal and River Plate.
A native of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, Krakowiak graduated from James Madison in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
