Tilly Brampton enters her sixth year with the Liberty field hockey program. She joined the team prior to its first year of competition, during the summer of 2011.
In Brampton’s time on the coaching staff, the Lady Flames have been very successful, winning two NorPac Championships, making two straight NCAA tournament appearances (2013-14) and winning three NorPac East Division regular-season crowns.
Brampton serves as a key instructor for the team's offensive unit, focusing primarily on the forward line. She also provides administrative support, helping with recruiting, equipment management and video coordination.
In 2015, Liberty's offense was prolific thanks in large part to Brampton's knowledge, ranking second in the nation in scoring average (4.25), second in points per game (12.00), second in goals per game (4.44), second in assists per game (3.11) and fourth in scoring margin (2.18). Under Brampton's guidance, 16 players scored at least one goal, 18 total Lady Flames recorded at least one point and eight players reached double figures in points in 2015.
Brampton is excited about the 2016 season as the Lady Flames officially became members of the Big East Conference on Dec. 8, 2015 and will begin league play this fall.
“I am really excited to be moving into a new era with the Big East Conference. It offers many new exciting opportunities and challenges. The Big East is a great move for the program and will continue to help our growth and development as we strive toward our goals,” Brampton said.
Brampton has guided two Lady Flames to earn the NorPac Maria Whitehead Rookie of the Year award. In 2012, Sarah Gipe notched 28 points (13 goals, two assists) and in 2013 Serena Barr finished the season with 27 points (nine goals, nine assists).
Brampton, a native of Sussex, England, has playing experience at multiple levels. After serving as the team captain of Burgess Hill School field hockey, she played for U-16, U-18 and U-21 South of England teams as well as National League for Staines Hockey Club where her teams achieved championship success. Brampton then played for one year at Boston College as a graduate student, seeing action in 18 games in 2010. She notched two goals and an assist on the year, including a game winner against Northeastern.
As a coach, Brampton has also worked at multiple levels, including instructing club and school teams in England before becoming a qualified physical education teacher. While at Boston College, Brampton helped coach at high school clinics and camps, serving as an assistant coach during the instruction.
