Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
I knew Liberty was the right place for me because it gave me more of an opportunity to grow in more ways than a student athlete. Other than developing as a softball player and student, Liberty guides me to further my relationship with God which is something many other institutions do not make a priority.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
Before doing anything softball related, I read my devotional, a chapter of my mental strength book, and I do breathing exercises.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My grandpa, Poppy. He had a faith stronger than anyone else I know and strived to be like Jesus every day. Poppy worked hard for everything he had and welcomed everyone around him with open arms. He inspires me by the way he loved the Lord, how hard he worked, and the impact he left on everyone he encountered.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
The C-USA Conference Championship game.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
My number is a family number but specifically I have been #23 throughout my career after my dad. He was #23 when he played sports. He is a huge reason that I am where I am today in my career so wearing this number on the field reminds me of my why, and all my family back home.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
Kevin Wildes, my father, played baseball at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
Dinner. My mom’s chicken & dumplings and chicken fettuccine alfredo.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
I check the iMessage app.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
Fishing, drawing, and lettering.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Jennie Finch
What is your favorite possession and why?
My hand painted Bible. It is personalized to me and has my family Bible verse on it.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Italy. My favorite food has always been some kind of Italian food and it’s a beautiful place.
