Liberty Opens Conference USA Play, Welcoming Unbeaten Western Kentucky

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Women's Soccer (7-2-1) opens the Conference USA season hosting unbeaten Western Kentucky (6-0-4) on Saturday at 11:30. The contest from Osborne Stadium will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The game will be the first leg of a doubleheader at Osborne Stadium, with the Liberty men's soccer team hosting a game against Furman at 5 p.m.
The Lady Flames will have enjoyed 13 days off, with their last contest being played on Sept. 13. Liberty went 2-0 that week with wins over James Madison (1-0) and Old Dominion (2-1).

- The Lady Flames received one vote in the latest United Soccer Coaches/IWSOC weekly rankings. Liberty received two votes on Sept. 25.
- Liberty ranks No. 1 in the South Region, holding the top spot over Memphis (RV).
- Liberty is currently on a five-game winning streak, which is tied for the third-longest among Division I programs.
- The Lady Flames boast an overall 17-3-5 record in CUSA play since joining the league in 2023.
- Western Kentucky represents the only team Liberty has not beaten as members of Conference USA. The Hilltoppers prevailed 1-0 at home in 2023 and the two played to a scoreless draw in 2024, also at WKU.
- Halle Engle ranks within the top 10 of active players in Division I with 11 career game-winning goals. She has three so far this season.
- Engle leads the team with four goals and eight points. Avenley Monteith paces the squad with three assists.
- Freshman Izzie Smulik has scored two goals this season on just two shots. Keelyn Eslinger and Dani Gubbels have each scored a goal on a single shot this season.
