
5 Flames Named to CSC Baseball Academic All-District Team

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty Flames pitchers Josh Swink and Bradley Zayac, outfielder Josh Campos, infielder Jordan Jaffee and catcher Kyle Hvidsten have been named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District Baseball Team ®, the College Sports Communicators announced this afternoon.
To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and have participated in at least 90 percent of the institution's games or started at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched a minimum of 35 innings.
The Flames have received 29 CSC Academic All-District ® honors in program history. Liberty has had six players go on to be named CSC Academic All-Americans ®. Richard DeWitt (1980), Trey Lambert (2014), Alex Close (2014 & 2015) and Aaron Anderson (2021 & 2022) were selected to the first team, while Jason Benham (1998) was recognized as a third team member and Dave Bream (1984) received honorable mention honors.
In 2022, Anderson became the first Liberty student-athlete in school history to be named an Academic All-American Team Member of the Year. He and Alex Close each were selected to two Academic All-American first teams during their time in a Liberty uniform.
Swink earns his second CSC Baseball Academic All-District Team ® honor. The left-hander went 3-3 with a 4.15 ERA and three saves over 56 1/3 innings, appearing in 21 games, five of which were starts. He struck out 60 and walked 24.
The junior from Newton, N.C., has posted a 3.71 cumulative GPA in sport management. For the second consecutive year, he was named a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal Recipient and earned inclusion on the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Zayac is currently a semifinalist for the 2026 National Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore right-hander was selected to the 2026 CUSA All-Conference second team and the CUSA Baseball All-Academic team.
A steady addition to the Flames' pitching staff in 2026, Zayac finished the year with a 9-1 record with a 3.64 ERA in 16 appearances, 15 of which were starts. The right-hander struck out 68 and walked 17 in 84 innings. He led the Conference USA in wins and ended the year among the CUSA leaders in ERA (5th), innings pitched (6th), strikeouts (9th) and opponents' batting average (10th).
The Chesapeake, Va., native has posted a 3.52 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. The pitcher was named a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal Recipient and earned inclusion on the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
In his first season at Liberty, Campos started all 64 games in center field. The junior hit .259 with 12 home runs, 51 RBI and 53 runs scored. His 12 home runs tied for the team lead and tied for eighth in CUSA. He also had 13 doubles and a triple. The outfielder walked 33 times and posted a .377 on-base percentage.
The junior from Carrboro, N.C., provided strong defensive play for the Flames. Campos finished the year 15th among outfielders with a 9.36 Defensive Runs Saved.
Campos has a 3.90 GPA in sport management. He received a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and earned inclusion on the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Jaffe played in 57 games with 55 starts in his lone season with the Flames. The third baseman hit .326 with three home runs, 45 RBI and 48 runs scored. He had 12 doubles and three triples. The senior walked 22 times, posting a .382 on-base percentage.
Jaffe was selected the Dick Howser Trophy Co-National Hitter of the Week for the period ending April 26. He also garnered CUSA Hitter of the Week for the same period. In addition, he was named to the Athens, Ga., All-Regional team this past weekend.
The Moorpark, Calif., native posted a 3.50 GPA in business administration. He was a member of the 2025-26 CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Hvidsten played in 55 games with 49 starts in his only season for the Flames. The catcher hit .204 with six home runs, 20 RBI and 36 runs scored. He walked 35 times and was hit by a pitch 21 times to finish the year with a .422 on-base percentage. The senior finished one hit by pitch of the school record of 22 set by David Benham in 1998.
