
Hines Tabbed the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty goalkeeper Rachel Hines was awarded the recognition as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week thanks to a stellar performance in a 9-8 2OT loss at USF, the conference announced Monday.
The award marks Liberty's second Player of the Week honor this season. Sophia Nesci was named the ASUN Offensive Player of the Week on March 23. The Lexington, Va. native receives her third ASUN Defensive Player of the Week of her career, receiving two last season.
Hines kept the Bulls offense at bay throughout last week's contest with a career-high 17 saves. She allowed just three goals between the second half and both overtime periods. She also added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
The junior ranks No. 10 in the country with 9.42 saves per game and No. 13 nationally with 113 total saves this season. She now has 301 career saves, ranking No. 3 in Liberty program history. The goalkeeper has recorded at least eight saves in games this season.
Liberty (4-8) will be taking on No. 19 Notre Dame (10-3) on Monday at 1 p.m.
